Sulayman Van Ael is the associate Muslim Chaplain here at Imperial College.
As the Muslim Chaplain, Sulayman is here to provide you with the support that you need, whether it’s that you would like advice on a situation or to ask questions or have issues that are affecting you mentally, emotionally, spiritually and so on. Sulayman is experienced, learned and extremely approachable so be sure to make use of him because he is an invaluable resource and can really offer you that help and support when you need it most.
About Sulayman
Sulayman Van Ael is the founder of The Ark Institute, a dynamic educational institution based in London. He was born in 1976 into a Dutch, atheist family. After becoming a Muslim at the age of 18, he travelled the world to seek knowledge, studying Arabic, Qur’an and other Islamic sciences. He has also graduated from Rotterdam University with a BA in Theology and MSc in Islamic Counselling. As a scholar who resonates with young and old alike, Sulayman is a powerful, dynamic and credible voice for the emerging formation of a confident, faithful identity of Islam in Europe.

Sulayman will be on campus the second Friday of every month. He’ll be delivering the Jummah khutbah at 1pm and will be based in the chaplaincy building from 2pm to 6pm that day for you to arrange a time to see him.
