Dear Freshers,
Welcome to Imperial, and welcome to the next chapter of your lives!
First and foremost a huge CONGRATULATIONS for surviving the gauntlet of UCAS applications and making it into one of the best universities in the world! On behalf of the Islamic Society, we welcome you and wish you an exciting and fruitful year, as well as a university experience that will be unforgettable (for all the right reasons!)
During Freshers we are here to make the daunting transition between home and uni life easier, and provide support and company throughout the year whether it be for social, spiritual or academic purposes.
Uni life is commonly recognised as a period of self-development, and a time in which you ‘find yourself’. These are years that will shape the rest of your life. Who you become is infinitely more important than what you do or what you have. So, although this might be a daunting thought, think of it like this: you have a clean canvas to paint yourself a beautiful future, and we want to help. Make the most of your opportunities here, take up new activities, engage in a sport, study religion, go to social events and make good-hearted friends alongside your studies, as it is the activities you do and the people around you that shape your own identity and character. It’s easy to get lost in your studies, so try from the start to achieve a balanced, productive and active lifestyle!
Needless to say, as your brothers, sisters and fellow students, we promise to be here for you throughout all the highs and the lows of this stage in life, so never hesitate to contact any one of us about anything – we will always do our best to help you.
