62:9
O you who have believed, when [the adhān] is called for the prayer on the day of Jumuʿah [Friday], then proceed to the remembrance of Allāh and leave trade. That is better for you, if you only knew
Alhamdulilah, the ISoc aims to organise weekly Jumu’ah on campus all year round to ensure students, staff and others who are close to the University centre are able to attend.
We normally hold two Jumu'ahs at the same time, in Beit Hall and 14b Princes Gardens (15b for the sisters). Weekly times and venues will be updated and shown below, as well as in the WhatsApp announcement chats (contact the ISoc members or volunteers to be added). For Jumu'ah availability in the other campuses please discuss with the people onsite closer to the time Insha'Allah.
This week's times haven't been announced yet. Check the WhatsApp announcements chat.

Take a bath (ghusl), make wudu, wear perfume if you have it, and come in clean, presentable clothes.
“The taking of a bath on Friday is compulsory for every male Muslim who has attained the age of puberty, and (also) the cleaning of his teeth with siwak, and the using of perfume if it is available.”
The earlier you come, the greater the reward. Aim to be settled at least 5–10 minutes before the khutbah.
“Any person who takes a bath on Friday like the bath of janaba and then goes for the prayer (in the first hour, i.e. early), it is as if he had sacrificed a camel.”
Put your phone on silent and don’t talk during the khutbah, not even to tell someone else to be quiet.
“When the imam is delivering the khutbah, and you ask your companion to keep quiet and listen, then no doubt you have done an evil act.”
Fill the rows from the front and take the nearest free space rather than climbing over others to reach a spot.
“A man came and stepped over the people while the Prophet ﷺ was giving the sermon on Friday. The Prophet ﷺ said: ‘Sit down, you have annoyed (the people).’”
Plan your Friday around Jumu’ah: book meetings around it where you can.
“He who leaves the Friday prayer (continuously) for three Fridays on account of slackness, Allah will print a stamp on his heart.”
Read or listen to Surah al-Kahf (chapter 18) at any point from Thursday sunset until Friday sunset.
“If anyone recites sūra al-Kahf (Qur’ān, 18) on Friday, light will shine brightly for him till the next Friday.”
Increase in sending blessings on the Prophet ﷺ throughout the day, e.g. “Allahumma salli ‘ala Muhammad”.
“Among the most excellent of your days is Friday… so invoke more blessings on me that day, for your blessings will be submitted to me.”
There is a special hour on Friday when du’a is answered. Many scholars hold it is the last hour before Maghrib, so make du’a after ‘Asr.
“Friday is divided into twelve hours. Amongst them there is an hour in which a Muslim does not ask Allah for anything but He gives it to him. So seek it in the last hour after the afternoon prayer.”
